Treats and Sweets: Dough in NYC

Don't you love when things just work out? That is exactly what happened when my friend Kate and I arrived in New York City. 

It was like 6:30 am, freezing cold, and we couldn't drop our bags at our hotel until 8 am. So being the person that I am, I just googled best doughnut shops in Manhattan, found the closest one to us, and headed straight to it! 

Luckily for us, we ended up at Dough. 

As you walk in, there is one large rustic table off-centered below a line of gorgeous lights. Behind the counter on the back wall, there is a giant window and you can see all of the bakers making fresh doughnuts and coffee. It is PERFECT! 

It honestly feels like a fairytale right in the middle of the city. Not only that but the nutella filled doughnut is to die for!! It may actually beat my zebra doughnut in London and nutella bomba in Rome!

NYFW street style

Hello again! I am so excited to share with you my experiences at (well, standing outside of) NYFW! First things first, I may be addicted to Fashion Week. I just love being around so much beautiful fashion. To see people pushing boundaries and expressing themselves in such a beautiful way is just amazing. 

So, street-style outside the shows of NYFW was much different than when I went to London Fashion Week last year. I'm not sure if it was the cold weather or just the way New York does fashion week but there was wayyyy less people outside of the shows.

In London, there was a detailed schedule posted online for the public to see including pretty much every show with the location. In New York, there was a posted schedule but it seem to be missing a lot of key shows. 

The first day (Thursday) I went to Lincoln Center anxious to be around amazing fashion, I was very disappointed to find about three people walking around and around eight photographers. It was very strange and once again...very cold.

Thankfully, on Friday there were a lot more people dressed up and walking around! There were still not as many as in London though. There it seemed that every time I turned my head there was someone new to take a few snaps of. In New York, there were several key people that everyone ran to and took photos of. 

Another key difference was that in London I met quite a lot of celebrities going into/leaving the shows...at NYFW there must has been another entrance because I despite seeing some fabulous bloggers, there were no celebrity sightings while I was there.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience but I probably should plan to attend fashion week next year in the Fall when it is warmer in NYC :)

Well, hello!! I recently had the chance to visit New York City during New York Fashion Week, and it was AMAZING! Unfortunately, it was also freezing cold. To prepare for the horrible weather I went to some of my go-to winter pieces.

A year after.

A year ago, I arrived in London to start my 4-month adventure. I'm not sure how time has gone by so quickly yet also seems so far away.

I feel like within the past year I have heard people say to me things like 'you're in for a rude awakening after graduation' and 'wait until you get into the real world'...but why can't my life abroad be my real world? I think the answer to that is that it can be if I try hard enough.

Over the past two years, I have seen and done things that will be very difficult to top. I have lived within blocks of both St. Peter's and St. Paul's. I have seen Italian operas and West End shows. I have met people from all over the world. I have volunteered in a Roman high school. I have worked alongside British professionals.

But you know what? I will top all of that....I want to live everyday like that. I don't want to graduate and get stuck in other people's 'real world'. I want to continue living in the one I have created. Yes, I have loans. Yes, I will be living with my parents for a little while...but that doesn't mean my life won't be as extraordinary.

p.s. I haven't been in the United States on January 15 in two years....so crazy!

Caffeine Kick: 21st Street Coffee Downtown

Hiya! How are you on this awesome December morning? 

So, I have gotten into the habit of taking a lot of photos of my lattes these past few months and the below is my absolute favorite! It is so simple but I just love it :) 

You know what I also love? This mocha from 21st Street Coffee downtown! I normally go for my simple vanilla latte but it was a rainy, cold day in Pittsburgh and they had run out of vanilla syrup so I thought, "what the heck, I'll have a mocha!"and I loved it! 

The shop was quite small but with just enough tables for my friend and I to catch up! Both of us had trouble finding the place because it is kind of hidden off to the side of a bank but it was worth asking a few random strangers for directions. 

Next time I think I'll try their other location in the Strip District!
