Sofie.

It's weird how things can change you the instant they happen. About a month ago I had to answer the question 'if you could pick any superpower, which would you choose to have and why?'. My answer was to be able to read minds. I wasn't exactly sure why I picked that but it just seemed right.

If you asked me that question today, my answer would be to be able to travel back in time (like in the movie 'About Time'). Before yesterday, I really had never wished for that. Even though bad things happened, I just had to feel it and heal.

A few days ago, my first dog passed away. She was 14 years old and she had been in my life since I was 6. I only have a few memories that don't include her. My life just doesn't seem right without her. Her barking at my dad. Her kissing my mom. Her scratching at my bed for me to pick her up.

I would do anything to be able to go back for just a second and give her one more kiss. It's not that I regret anything, I just want more with her. I know that seems selfish because we got to love her for 14 years but I loved her more than you can imagine.

Soooo close!!!

I was so close to my goal, but I didn't achieve it. Not only that but this weekend was my sister's second baby shower so I ate A LOT of sweets the past two days...But don't worry! I will not let this get me off track too much. I am going to start the week with a positive attitude and continue to make time everyday to go to the gym! I have a little less than a month to reach my December goal of 148! I don't know if I will be able to get to that number but I am going to really, really try my best!

Monday, Monday, Monday.

This past week has been a rough one...it seemed like everything that could have gone wrong did. All week at school I felt like this:

I forgot to turn in my homework in one class, I got an 18% on a big group project, I am having friend troubles, I went to an event that I thought was going to be really fun and it was lame, and then I came home. I thought coming home would make me feel better but then I went to the eye doctor and she told me my eyes are getting worse and worse. Not only that but I have an eye infection and have to go back to the doctor's in a week. Because of all my complications, I was then late for my sister's baby shower. Last night was just horrible and the rain storms today hasn't helped either. Overall, for the past 7 or so days I feel like the world has been trying to make me miserable and it is working.

BUT THEN A FEW MINUTES AGO I REALIZED

TOMORROW IS MONDAY!

It is a new week! And I will not let it get me down! No matter how crappy things seem, I just need to focus on the good. I finished a paper, I bought delicious groceries for the week, I paid off my credit card bill early, I just watched an amazing episode of Doctor Who, and I got to spend the weekend with my family.  So, I know that by Wednesday I am going to be feeling overwhelmed with how much work I have to do and the fact that I am poor, but I just need to go to the gym and watch Doctor Who because that always makes me feel better!

For all of you Doctor Who fans out there, all I have to say is this:

ALLONS-Y, WEEK!

I am strong.

I have actually been sticking to being active and healthy (with only a few hiccups)! Since the post I wrote almost a month ago, I have been doing well! I usually go to the gym 5-6 days a week doing cardio and lifting on arm and leg machines. Because I don't want this time to go to waste, I now have been making healthier choices with food. I still can't refuse a brownie but at least I am thinking about what I put into my body more often.

I honestly am going to attribute this dedication to the fact that I have been watching Doctor Who on my phone's Netflix App while I am at the gym! It sounds stupid, but I now associate going to the gym with watching it and that makes me excited to go!

I have actually been noticing a difference in my body and how I feel! I am feeling stronger and happier every time I leave the gym! I really hope this sticks because like I keep saying, I want to run while I am in London. I think that it will show me a whole different side of the city! I will have to wake up early to have time and that will show me the quieter, calmer side of London. Plus, I could explore more places more quickly!

Travelling is expensive....

Soooo, I made a post last week about all of the fabulous trips I wanted to take while abroad next semester. After looking over my budget again, I realized I should strictly limit myself to $1,000 for travelling, which is roughly £625 (gosh do I miss the euro now...the exchange rate was so much better).

That being said, I have narrowed my plans down a bit, but am very pleased with all of the amazing, exciting places I still can afford to explore!

This is how I am going to pick up men in London...hahaha

Is that English?

Today I finally got my first pre departure email from my London program! Included in the email was a handbook for me to look over before I leave. Most of the preparation info was the same as it was for Rome. It told me what time to plan to get into London, that on the first day I will have a tour of my neighborhood with my future roommates, recommended things to pack, etc. BUT, they also included a list of words that I, as an American, might have trouble understanding. I like to think that my knowledge of British slang is above-average based on all of the tv shows, movies, and books I read but I still didn't know all of them!

Here it is! Give it a look and see if you could survive in London!
