Just relax!

I feel like I post about trying to relax often but I feel like I am finally getting it! I am allowed to make mistakes and everything will still be okay.

As I probably said before I come from a family of worriers...it's in my blood. I am someone who worries about things that some people don't even think about. And although I try to look at this as a positive quality of mine...but I know it is a flaw as well.

I like the fact that I turn assignments in early and am usually on time for appointments. However, I have always struggled with the part that I only need to check my calendar once. I only have to remind myself of things that I think I will forget, not every single thing that is going on in my life. I need to remind myself that even if I don't obsess, I am the type of person who will still get things done!

Recently, I made a mistake and didn't complete a task I was assigned in my internship. I freaked out...I was so nervous to email my boss about it but with some help from my mom I knew I just had to get it over with. And guess what...she wasn't mad. She told me that I had done such a great job on my other tasks that it didn't matter.

So, the point I am trying to make from this long, random post is that you shouldn't worry because everything will be okay! Just be yourself and don't stress!!

A Relaxing Summer Night!

Kelly, her sister, and I made drinks to cool off and yummy red velvet cupcakes!

Visiting Kelly!

Recently, I went to visit my friend Kelly in Scranton! It was great to see her and got both of us really excited for school to start!
The first day we went to a place called Thai Thai for lunch! My pad thai was delicious!

Outfit of the day!

Dress: A gift from London
Shoes: Target
Earrings: Forever 21

High Five for Friday

1. This week Travis and Janelle came to visit (posts to come)! Last night all three of us cooked an Italian dinner for my family :) It was so fun and delicious!
2. I CANNOT wait for school to start! When I was showing Travis around the Cathedral the other day I saw this written on the wall and it made me even more excited!
3. I keep finding little things from Rome around my room...I absolutely love it.
4. It has been so hot recently! I want to get tan!
5. Janelle's first time at Eat n Park!

"If you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining."

Sometimes I find myself focusing on the worst parts of my days...I don't know why but I seriously need to stop. I am generally a positive person and I don't want that to change. I love life...sometimes I just need some help. I am so glad that I have friends who are always there to help me.

I know this is a random post but it is just the start. I am going to continue to post about this and try to figure things out.

I feel like this blog that I found today is really going to help!

Last night all together...

The day before everyone left, we went to Alle Fratte (it seems like this was only yesterday!) for dinner, got drinks and sweets from mine and Sophia's place, and then went to all the monuments!

High Five for Friday!!!

1. Skyping with Areeya is always the best way to start my weekend :)
2. Breakfast for dinner is the best!
3. Eating in Oakland makes me so excited for school!
4. Molly cuddling with me <3
5. My new pants are amazing!!!

Cinque Terre

Our last weekend before finals, Janelle, Travis, and I went to Cinque Terre! It has beautiful views but it wasn't my favourite spot in Italy. There were a lot of tourists spots and not as much culture, in my opinion. Even so, it was a fantastic weekend! We got to be together and not worry about classes :)

Treats and Sweets!

While my friends went to the Blue Grotto, I just relaxed and walked around beautiful Capri! I wandered into a little grocery store and saw that they had sandwiches for sale at the counter. I ordered a tomato, basil, and mozzarella sandwich because I wanted something quick. It was the freshest, most delicious sandwich of my life! Then I went to a bakery a couple streets away and got two sweets to eat! I sat on a bench looking out into the sea and just enjoyed the moment.

This moment was similar to this one I posted about during my first month in Italy! It also reminds me of this clip from "Paris, Je T'aime" (skip to the end)! It was similar because I was just sitting there taking in the beauty and life around me. I didn't have to have someone with me or have to talk, I just was a part of Italy.

Sorrento!

The last weekend trip with my program was to Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri. It was my favourite by far! I don't know if it was the warm weather, the fact that we all knew each other so well by this point, or if it was just the beautiful cities, but it was amazing!

The girls (minus Sophia and Bree) at an orange and lemon grove in Sorrento :)

Capri (my favourite place in Italy besides Rome)!

Capri!

p.s. A honeymoon in Capri would be perfect!

What if it never happened?

Last night I finally changed my profile and cover photos to non-Rome pictures. It feels weird now. If someone looked at my profile they would have no idea that I studied abroad...I know that seems stupid but it really got me thinking.

What if it never happened?

What if I didn't study abroad? How would my life be different? How would I be different? It's such a strange thing to think about. There isn't really an answer to these questions but I still can't help but ask myself anyways.

I did it...

I cut 8 inches off and dyed the ends blue! Haha well, my friend Vicki actually did!

I am not exactly sure how I feel. At first I loved it! But then after about two days I hated it and felt like I looked boyish. Now (a week later), I feel weird but not a good weird or a bad weird...just weird. I feel like I think it is more drastic than it really is haha. Seriously, this haircut has thrown off my whole routine and shaken my confidence! I think that is a good thing though! Plus, it will grow long by the time I got to London :)

A Night at the Opera (see what I did there, Queen fans?)

I got to go see a modern, ballet at the Roman Opera house with my Italian class! I was very excited leading up to this day, but it was a let down. My teacher made us walk there…and then I tried not to fall asleep the whole time. I am ashamed to say this but maybe ballet just isn't my thing...

Roma, Roma, Roma.

During our last couple of weeks in Rome, Sophia, Travis, and I went to a Roma game! It was such a cool experience! My favourite part was at the beginning of the game when everyone sings the Roma song (the one that Tony sings in the car) and holds up their scarves!

Perri History!

One of my main goals for studying in Rome was to visit my Papap Tony's old street! I waited until the end to do it so it would be fresh in my mind to tell him about it! It was a surreal moment. During the whole semester I imagined my Papap walking down the same streets and I was, but this time I knew he really had! Over 50 years ago, he would walk here everyday and there I was walking down it in 2013.

Something everyone who studies abroad in Rome should do...

Or at least that is what I have been told…Haha.
I had only about a month left in Rome and I still had not went inside the Colosseum. I felt fine about it and didn't really plan on going in, but to many fellow study abroad students this was something I was going to regret, so I gave into peer pressure and did it! It was a beautiful day and I skipped my (horrible) Italian class so all in all it was worth it!

Sushi!

For my last meal visiting Janelle in Virginia, we got sushi with Janelle's friend! It was so cool because all three of us went out to dinner in Rome when she visited Janelle during the semester!

We had a great meal at "The Sweet Ginger" in Vienna! I highly recommend it.

We are in the America of America...

Riding the metro :)

The Lincoln Memorial (or the Jefferson Memorial as Jan and I like to call it)

We got youtube pranked!!!! So Jan and I are just sitting around the fountain when some young man comes up wearing a uniform and tells us we have the wrong seats. We were so confused. He told us that weren't allowed to sit there but that we could move like two feet and that spot was good…after a long, awkward conversation we were just about to leave when he told us he was starting a youtube channel and that his friend filmed the whole thing! It was so cool!

Food Trucking in DC!

Food trucks are amazing!! There are so many to choose from in DC and you just track where they are on Twitter! We ended up eating at Far East Taco Grille. We both got a chicken taco with cheesy lime sauce, corn salsa, and pineapple sauce…it was heavenly. Seriously, the most random but delicious taco ever!

Georgetown with Janis!!

Recently I visited Jan at her house in Virginia! It was absolutely amazing to see her again. It also helped me realize she was a person in America and not just in Rome :)

The first night we went to Georgetown! We looked around at shops (Zara obviously!) and then got a late-night snack!

We had a little too much fun in Urban Outfitters haha we are obnoxious <3

We went to Wingos before heading back to her house for the night! It is this little place that sells everything fried! Jan got friend cheesecake and I got mozzarella sticks! Everything was delicious! It is a Georgetown must-eat :)
